How do I renew items on loan?

One 28 day renewal period is available for items (except for 7 day Fastbacks) providing an item/s has not been requested for another customer. Items eligible for renewal can be renewed online through eLibCat or the BNELibraries App. No renewal is available for Fastbacks and they should be returned by the due date.

Renew item instructions:

  • Login to 'My eLibCat Account'.

  • Select the 'Checkouts' tab​.

  • Select items to be renewed by clicking in the checkbox next to the particular item and then click on 'Renew'.  The new due date will be displayed.​

  • Always check the new due date and any messages in red to confirm that the item has been renewed.  

  • If an item has already had the maximum number of renewals a red message will be underneath the title and the checkbox will be greyed out.

  • If the renewal is unsuccessful for reasons such as the user is blocked or the item has a hold, a red message will appear after the renewal has been attempted, and the due date will not change. Please note: If any item has been overdue for 30 days the customer’s record will be blocked and no further items can be borrowed/renewed until the item/s are returned. Items are deemed to be lost once they are 49 days overdue. Customers are then required to pay for the full cost of the item plus an administration fee

  • The 'Times Renewed' column displays the number of times each item has been renewed.
